There is a rich tradition in linguistics focusing on the analysis of individual fields of educational discourse, that is, the discourse related to the institutionalized process of learning (school) in its various versions. In the spirit of this tradition, various areas of educational reality have been explored, such as the analysis of textbooks, teaching practices, curricula, lesson plans, teachers’ training practices, etc. In the present course the focus is turned to the analysis of the educational discourse as a whole. The main goal is for students to be able to use theories and methods from the field of (critical) discourse analysis, in order to analyze and understand aspects, but also the whole of educational reality. The course consists of two parts: familiarization with theory but also conducting micro-research on a topic of students’ interest.
