Libraries - Archives


Library System. Users of all three departmental libraries have full access to the online catalogue of the AUTh Library System (Library System) and various other data-bases. The School of Philology has also a Computer Laboratory reserved for its own faculty members and students.

The Library of Classics and Ancient History of the Department of Classics, one of the largest within the Aristotle University Library System, is situated on the second floor of the New Building of the Faculty of Philosophy (room 201). Its collection, which includes approximately 40.000 volumes and periodicals, is easily accessible through the OPAC digitized system of the Central Library of AUTh and offers links to various data-bases and other on-line material.

The Library of the Department of Medieval and Modern Greek Studies is situated on the second floor of the New Building of the Faculty of Philosophy (room 208). Its collection includes approximately 36.000 volumes and over 500 Greek and foreign journals.

The Library of the Department of Linguistics is situated on the third floor of the Old Building of the Faculty of Philosophy (room 309). Its collection includes approximately 17.000 volumes as well as a large collection of dictionaries, Ph.D dissertations and M.A. theses completed in the School of Philology of AUTh, offprints, bibliographies on cyrillic, and significant audio-visual material (CDs and material on tape). The Department of Linguistics also holds the following collections:1. The personal library of Manolis Triantafyllidis concentrating on Greek language. 2. Τhe personal library of A.-Ph. Christidis concentrating on linguistics and comprising a singificant number of books of general theoretical interest.3. A rare-books collection (826 volumes) concentrating on linguistics and comprising a singificant number of books of general theoretical interest.


ΑRCHIVE OF MODERN GREEK LITERATURE:
The Department of Medieval and Modern Greek Studies has a rich collection of the personal archives of various authors (Alc. Yannopoulos, Stratis Doukas, M. Axioti, G. Delios, O. Archive of Microfilms and Photographs:
The Department of Medieval and Modern Greek Studies has a special archive of approximately 150 microfilms and printed documents dated to the early period of Modern Greek Literature as well as a sifnigicant number of microfilms of medieval manuscripts.
