Call for papers

3rd Call for papers [New abstract submission deadline: 10 February 2023]

Dear Colleagues,

The Department of Linguistics, School of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is pleased to announce its 43rd Annual Meeting to be held in Thessaloniki on May 4-7, 2023. We welcome original submissions on any area of linguistic analysis (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics and discourse analysis, psycholinguistics, neurolinguistics, language acquisition, bi-/multi-lingualism, language teaching). We particularly welcome contributions in fields related to the development, design and use of linguistic resources of all sorts including among others:

  • reference and specialized corpora
  • lexicographical databases
  • wordnets
  • treebanks
  • semantic networks
  • maps
  • archives etc.

for theoretical, comparative, diachronic and experimental research in linguistics. Papers from such areas will be selected to be presented in special thematic sessions, surrounding the keynote talks of our invited speakers.

Abstract submission

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Those who wish to participate in the 43rd Annual Meeting with a presentation are invited to electronically submit their abstracts as .pdf files to easychair by the 30th of February 2023. Notifications of acceptance will be sent out on the 20th of February 2023. The abstract should be anonymous and free of self-citations. Submissions should be in the following format:

  • Title: centered
  • Length: One A4 page (excluding bibliography)
  • Font: Times New Roman 12pt
  • Space: single
  • Margins: 1 inch (2.54 cm) all sides

The papers may be oral or poster presentations. Each participant is entitled to submit up to two abstracts, only one of which may be single-authored. The papers may be presented either in Greek or in English and they will be 20 minutes long, followed by a 10-minute discussion. When submitting your abstract, please indicate (within the file that you upload) your preferred mode of presentation (oral/poster) and whether you wish to present in the main session (5-7 May) or in the pre-conference postgraduate workshop (on which see below).

Graduate workshop

Pre-conference graduate linguistics’ workshop

A pre-conference postgraduate workshop will be held on the 4th of May 2023. Young researchers (e.g. postgraduate and doctoral students) are encouraged to submit an abstract on any area of Linguistics. State-of-the-art and review papers will not be accepted for presentation. The papers that will be accepted for presentation may be further submitted for publication in the Proceedings.

Workshop “Teach4Integration”

Workshop “Teach4Integration”

The objectives of the workshop are to present, discuss and evaluate the teacher training program “Teach4Integration”, which is co-organized and implemented by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and the University of Thessaly, in collaboration with UNICEF and under the supervision of the Institute of Educational Policy, in the frame of the Project “All Children in Education” that is co-funded by the European Union in collaboration with the Ministry of Migration & Asylum and the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs.

Participation fee

Until the 20th of February:

  • Early-bird standard fee (presenters): 55 €
  • Early-bird standard fee (participation only): 45 €
  • Early-bird student fee (for undergraduate and postgraduate students): 30 €

Until the 15th of April:

  • Late registration fee (presenters): 65 €
  • Late registration fee (participation only): 55 €
  • Late registration fee (students): 40 €

The fee covers the conference material, coffee & snacks, and the papers’ publication in the Proceedings of the 43rd Annual Meeting to be published the following year.
