Alexandra Lianeri is assistant professor at the Classics department of the University of Thessaloniki and has worked as Junior Research Fellow at the University of Bristol and Moses and Mary Finley Fellow at the University of Cambridge. She is editor of the volumes Knowing Future Time in and through Greek Historiography (De Gruyter 2016); The Western Time of Ancient History (Cambridge University Press, 2011); Translation and the Classic (with V. Zajko, Oxford University Press, 2008), and the forthcoming volumes Companion to the Translation of Classical Epic (with R. Armstrong, Blackwell, in print); Critical History of Greek and Roman Philosophy (with G. Cambiano, Edinburgh University Press, forthcoming). She is completing a monograph on the translation of dēmokratia in 19th Britain (forthcoming, Oxford University Press). She has written articles on the reception and cultural history of antiquity as well as the interface of classical reception and historical theory. Her work seeks to address the challenge of grasping the incoherence of disparate conceptual threads and realms of experience through which Greek and Roman antiquities have reached modern and contemporary presents.
