Dimitrios Koutsogiannis is an Associate Professor with the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is a research associate with the “Centre for the Greek Language” and the “Computer Technology Institute” (CTI). His special interest fields and his publications are related to Educational Linguistics and he is particularly active in researching on how to use digital media for language education.

Dimitrios Koutsogiannis is an Associate Professor with the Department of Linguistics, Faculty of Philosophy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is a research associate with the “Centre for the Greek Language” (www.greek-language.gr) and the “Computer Technology Institute” (CTI) (http://www.cti.gr/en/). His special interest fields and his publications are related to Educational Linguistics (e.g. language education, educational discourse analysis, pupils’ literacy practices), using the scientific traditions of Critical Discourse Analysis, Social Semiotics and Literacy Studies. D. Koutsogiannis is particularly active in using digital media for language education and, at a more practical level, involved in developing digital resources and environments for the Greek language (in charge of the “Portal for the Greek Language” http://www.greek-language.gr/greekLang/index.html); in teachers’ further training (in charge of teachers’ further training and of developing material for K 7-12 Greek language teachers on how to use digital media for teaching purposes), as well as in developing Web 2.0 environments for new forms of  teachers’ further training, such as the creation of online communities (http://dialogos.greek-language.gr/). He has worked as a language teacher in secondary education for 15 years.
