39th ANNUAL MEETING

Department of Linguistics, School of Philology
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
(In Memoriam Michalis Setatos)

19-21 April 2018

The Department of Linguistics, School of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is pleased to announce its 39th Annual Meeting to be held in Thessaloniki on April 19-21, 2018, dedicated to the memory of the great Greek linguist Michalis Setatos (1929-2017).

Our Department’s decision to dedicate its 39th Annual Meeting to the memory of Michalis Setatos is related both to the assessment of his lifetime contribution to Greek linguistics, since it is widely accepted that the dearly departed has introduced modern Linguistics in our country, and to the acknowledgment that the Department of Linguistics of the School of Philology of A.U.Th., with its breadth of subjects and pluralism, is largely his own creation. Given the wide range of interests of the late Setatos, we would welcome papers that deal with any subject of Linguistics.

Those who wish to participate in the 39th Annual Meeting with a presentation are invited to submit two copies of their abstracts (one anonymous and one signed) to amgl39@lit.auth.gr by January 31, 2018. Notification of acceptance will be communicated by February 20, 2018. Abstracts must not exceed 400-500 words (including references) and must be submitted in both doc/docx and pdf form. The anonymous copy should be free of self-citations. If necessary, the word “Author” can be used instead, along with the publication date of the article. Submissions should be in the following format:

Font: Times New Roman 12pt
Space: single
Margins: 3 cm
For the signed copy: title, author(s), affiliation, email address (centered)
For the anonymous copy: title (centered)

A total of 80 oral presentations will be included in the conference program. All papers will be allocated 30 minutes (20 minutes for the presentation and 10 minutes for discussion). In addition, a total of 20 poster presentations will be accepted. Please indicate in your email whether your abstract is submitted for an oral or poster presentation, or for the pre-conference graduate workshop.

Each participant is entitled to only one (individual or co-authored) presentation.

POSTGRADUATE WORKSHOP

A postgraduate workshop will be held on April 19, 2018. Young researchers (postgraduate and doctoral students) are encouraged to submit an abstract on any area of Linguistics. State-of-the-art and review papers will not be accepted for presentation. The papers that will be accepted may be further submitted for publication in the conference Proceedings.

PARTICIPATION FEE

Standard fee: 40 €. Student fee (for undergraduate and postgraduate students): 20 €. Fees are payable on registration.
