36th ANNUAL MEETING OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS

The Department of Linguistics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is pleased to announce its 36th Annual Meeting to be held on 24-25 April 2015. This year’s Meeting focuses on Greek Dialectology and is organized around the following thematic areas: (a) Ancient Greek Dialects, (b) Medieval and Modern Greek Dialects, (c) Dialects and linguistic theory, (d) Balkan aspects of Modern Greek Dialects, (e) Social dialects of Modern Greek, (f) Dialects and Education. 

Scholars who wish to participate in the conference, either with an oral presentation or with a poster, are invited to submit their abstracts electronically in two files (one of them anonymous, the other one signed) to amgl36_2015@lit.auth.gr by 13 January 2015. Notification of acceptance will be communicated by 20 March 2015. The abstracts must not exceed 400 words (including references) and should be sent as MS Word or pdf attachments. Any reference to the author(s) should be omitted from the body and the references of the anonymous file. If absolutely necessary, authors should refer to themselves as “the author(s)”, plus publication year. Scholars should also state whether they wish to participate with an oral presentation or with a poster.

Submissions should be in the following format:

Font: Times New Roman 12pt
Space: single
Margins: 3cm on all sides
For the signed file: title, author(s), affiliation, e-mail address (centered)
For the anonymous file: title (centered) 

A total of 40 oral presentations will be accepted. Each presentation will be allocated 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for discussion. The poster session will host 10 to 15 posters. Each participant may submit only one paper (whether individual or co-authored). All abstracts will be reviewed by two referees.

PRE-CONFERENCE GRADUATE WORKSHOP

Young researchers (e.g. postgraduate and doctoral students) will be given the opportunity to present their work at a pre-conference graduate workshop to be held on April 23rd. A total of 15 papers will be selected, which will be published in the conference Proceedings (after review).

PARTICIPATION FEES

Standard fee: 40€
Student fee (for undergraduate and postgraduate students): 20€
Participation fees will be paid on the day of registration.
