35th ANNUAL MEETING OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS

The Department of Linguistics, School of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is pleased to announce its anniversary 35th Annual Meeting on 9-10 May 2014. Papers addressing the following topics are invited:

  • Theory of language
  • Description of the Greek language
  • History of the Greek language
  • Applied Linguistics

Given the anniversary nature of this year’s meeting, a small number of thematic sessions will be held (in parallel with the conference’s main sessions), which will focus on reviewing aspects of Greek linguistic research of the last 35 years in the above-listed topics.

Those who wish to participate in the conference with an oral presentation are invited to submit their abstracts electronically in two files (one of them anonymous, the other one signed) to amgl35_2014@lit.auth.gr by 13 January 2014. Notifications of acceptance will be communicated by 20 March 2014. Abstracts of 400-500 words (including references) should be sent as MS Word or pdf attachments. Any reference to the author(s) should be omitted from the body and the references of the anonymous file. If absolutely necessary, authors should refer to themselves as “the author(s)” plus publication year.

Submissions should be in the following format:

Length: 400-500 words (excluding bibliography)
Font: Times New Roman 12pt
Space: single
Margins: 3 cm all sides
For the signed file: title, author(s), affiliation, email address (centered)
For the anonymous file: title (centered)

No more than 50 oral presentations will be accepted. Each presentation will be allocated 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions. Please include in the body of the email whether you wish your submission to be considered for the Pre-conference graduate workshop (see below).

The abstracts will be reviewed by two referees.

Each participant is entitled to submit only one paper presentation (whether individual or co-authored).
